Zofran

Brand name for ondansetron, a medication that is primarily used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery.

Zofran is commonly prescribed to manage nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing chemotherapy/ radiation or in other cases such as nausea related to cyclic-vomiting, food poisoning, cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, etc.

Zofran works by blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors, which are involved in triggering nausea and vomiting reflexes. Serotonin is a natural substance in the body that can cause vomiting by stimulating these receptors

Pregnancy Warning: Zofran has been used during pregnancy, but its safety is not entirely established. It should only be used if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
